He uses the construct of the wearers body and pushes the structural boundaries of fabrics and shapes.  He allowed the wearer to decide how to wear his garments themselves thus forcing them to be creative and think outside tradition. Issey Miyake succeeded in merging avant-garde fashion and practical construction in a poignant, carefree manner.
