Legendary designer Jean Paul Gaultier had no formal fashion education to boast of. He established himself in the 70s and 80s as the “enfant terrible" of French fashion. With a seemingly endless creative output, his impact in the fashion world is unforgettable and essential— he played with gender roles, adorning men in skirts decades before others opted to, and allowed plus sized women and older men to grace his runways. His talent was undeniable, though his utilization of such gifts made him a an intuitively divisive designer. The subversive figure used many forward-thinking icons in his runway shows, including Madonna and Marilyn Manson, both whom he conceptualized tour wardrobes for. Offered here is an excellent condition, very rare John Paul Gaultier denim jacket. Branded metal stud buttons run down the centre front, matching on the two small pockets at the chest. All are in place and fully secure. The jacket is heavily structured- made from panels of heavy dark denim and between each panel denim blue fringe links them together. A beautiful intricately constructed piece.
